Toyota Corolla Commercial retains Small Van of the Year title in the Van Fleet World awards
The Toyota Corolla Commercial has retained its crown as Van Fleet World’s Small Van of the Year for the second year in succession.
This time around, the model raised its game with the introduction of fifth generation Toyota hybrid technology. Its upgraded 1.8-litre powertrain delivers more power, faster acceleration and a more rewarding drive while maintaining the van’s high fuel and emissions efficiency. The latest version, built exclusively by Toyota Manufacturing UK at its Burnaston factory in Derbyshire has also gained the latest Toyota Safety Sense package of advanced safety and driver assistance systems, with more functions and increased hazard detection capabilities.
John Kendall, Van Fleet World Editor, said: “The Toyota Corolla Commercial is an impressive car-derived van, offering an accessible load space and an easy driving experience. The latest version, launched in 2023, is even better than the original, with Toyota’s latest generation hybrid system and excellent fuel consumption, with 60mpg easily achievable. Add in Toyota’s enviable reputation for reliability and it offers a great solution for short or long-distance work.”
The van’s workhorse qualities are unchanged, with 1,326 litres of load space, the ability to carry a 425kg payload and tow up to 750kg. The conversion from Corolla Touring Sports to Commercial includes a rubber load space lining, full bulkhead grille, interior light and 12v power outlet. This work is also carried out by TMUK at the Burnaston plant’s Business Revenue Centre. Corolla Commercial’s “home grown” quality also includes an engine supplied by the TMUK Deeside factory in North Wales.
For business users – and all Corolla Commercial owners – there is peace of mind protection with a warranty that extends to up to 10 years/100,000 miles. This comprises an initial three-year manufacturer warranty, followed by up to a further seven years of service-activated warranty.
For the first three years of the car’s life, owners can have it serviced at a place of their choice. When the new car warranty period expires, they can then benefit from an additional 12 months (or 10,000 miles) warranty when their vehicle has a qualifying service at an authorised Toyota workshop. The warranty is provided at no extra cost, up to a limit of 10 years/100,000 miles. Terms and conditions apply; full details are available at www.toyota.co.uk.
