Toyota (GB) delivers Proace Verso battery electric people carriers to charity partner QEF (Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People)

3 March 2025

Toyota (GB) has delivered two Proace battery electric people carriers to the Leatherhead-based QEF (Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People) to assist with its transport needs. The delivery is the latest development in an established strategic charity partnership between Toyota and QEF, an organisation that shares Toyota’s commitment to enhancing mobility and independence for disabled individuals.

The people carriers will be used by QEF’s retail teams at its 15 charity shops and The Grange, in Kent, where supported people with learning disabilities will be able to enjoy trips out together.

Toyota will also work with QEF on initiatives including fundraising events, volunteer opportunities, and awareness campaigns, with funds going towards QEF’s Mobility Services, supporting people to increase their independent mobility.

About QEF

QEF is a well-known Surrey-based charity, dedicated to providing expert services to support disabled children and adults to achieve their potential and live their lives as independently as possible. With 90 years of experience, QEF makes a positive contribution to the lives of almost 10,000 disabled people annually.

Its comprehensive services include:
– Mobility services, including driving assessments, mobility advice and driving lessons to support disabled people and those with age-related impairments

– Care and neuro rehabilitation, supporting people to regain core skills following a complex neurological disability or illness
– Specialist assistive equipment such as specially designed chair for air travel and a powered chair for disabled children
– Residential care and supported living for people with learning disabilities

Michelle Giles, QEF Mobility Services Manager, commented: “We are so grateful for Toyota’s support of QEF.  The electric vehicles will make it easier for supported individuals to enjoy trips and activities in the local community, enabling us to be more socially inclusive. They will also enable our retail operations to operate in a more sustainable way by reducing vehicle emissions from our regular activities.”

Michelle continues, “This charity partnership with Toyota  will also make a significant difference to the many people who rely on our Mobility Services to enable them to be as independent as possible either through access to driving assessments and driving lessons, advice on mobility equipment,  vehicle  adaptations and accessible transport.

Scott Thompson, Toyota (GB) President and Managing Director, said: “Improving mobility for all is at the heart of everything we do at Toyota, so it’s wonderful that QEF, a charity that is local to our head office in Epsom, will be making good use of our Proace Verso electric people carriers to support the great services they provide.  We look forward to continuing to support QEF as one of our dedicated charity partners.”
