Toyota hailed a ‘global powerhouse’ as top automotive company in YouGov’s Best Brand Rankings 2026
Toyota is the leading automotive company globally in YouGov’s Best Brand Rankings 2026, for the second year in succession, securing 10th place among the best performing brands with a year-on-year increase of 2.8 per cent.
YouGov declared Toyota ‘a global automotive powerhouse’ for brand performance and commented: “In a year when global brand performance was shaped by economic pressure, rising prices and shifting consumer expectations, Toyota was the only car brand to appear in the global top 10. In a category which typically has strong domestic loyalties, Toyota’s presence as a top 10 global brand is an exception to the norm.”
The rankings are based on long-term tracking across 28 markets using six key metrics: Impression, Quality, Value, Satisfaction, Recommendation, and Reputation. They are based on average performance across 2025 using data from YouGov’s BrandIndex tracking platform.
The YouGov BrandIndex data show that the Toyota brand performs strongly across the individual components that make up YouGov’s Index score, with high scores for Impression (40.4) and Quality (40.5), alongside solid scores for Reputation (30.8), Recommend (34.2), Performance on Value (30.9) and Satisfaction (17.1), indicating the long term positive consumer perceptions of the brand.
The data for 2025 show Toyota as the top auto brand in a number of markets tracked by YouGov, including the USA, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Italy and Spain.
Emma Johnson, Director, Marketing for Toyota (GB), commented: “Being in the top 10 of global best performing brands is a huge achievement for a car company and we’re particularly pleased to see we’ve increased our total score from last year’s results. This latest YouGov Brand Ranking gives further endorsement to a Toyota brand that has always been synonymous with quality and reliability and is now clearly a top choice for consumers as seen in the particularly high scores for ‘Impression’ and ‘Recommend’.”
