All Toyotas Great And Bigsmall
Summer launch for the Yaris Ion, Land Cruiser Invincible and Aygo Black
Toyota is refreshing its range this summer with new special edition models that span the motoring spectrum from the ‘baby’ of the family, the Aygo city car, up to the mighty Land Cruiser. And the recently launched Yaris gains a new model too, in the form of the stylish, high value Ion.
YARIS ION VALUE
The Yaris Ion offers all the great styling, performance and convenience of the new generation Yaris, but with even greater value. As the new entry point to Toyota’s new bigsmall supermini range, it is available from less than £8,000 on-the-road.
Both three and five-door body styles are available with the 1.0-litre VVT-i petrol engine and five-speed manual transmission.
The Ion specification includes Toyota’s Easy Flat folding system for the rear seats. These divide 60:40 and can also be moved for and aft and reclined. It also provides electric door mirrors and front windows, audio system with CD player, remote central locking, multi-information display and concealed storage points beneath the front passenger seat and in the boot floor. In spite of its compact dimensions, Yaris comfortably accommodates five adults, with its innovative flat rear floor design, and has achieved the top five-star rating for occupant safety in Euro NCAP crash testing.
On sale from 1 July, the Yaris Ion is available from £7,995 (1.0 VVT-i three-door).
INVINCIBLE: TOYOTA’S SUPERHERO SUV
The new five-door, eight-seat Land Cruiser Invincible adds more muscle and style to a legend of the 4×4 market.
The Invincible is equipped with Toyota’s 3.0-litre D-4D engine and five-speed automatic transmission, but benefits from substantially more power and torque. Output is increased from 164 to 201bhp (166 to 204 DIN hp) and torque rises from 410 to 470Nm, giving the Land Cruiser stronger load-pulling and off-road driving ability and more flexible and comfortable on-road performance.
The rise in power cuts the nought to 62mph acceleration from 11.2 to 10.8 seconds. Top speed, fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions are unchanged at, respectively, 109mph, 31.4mpg (combined cycle) and 243g/km.
In addition to its uprated engine, the new model has dark tinted rear privacy glass and dedicated ‘Invincible’ badging. The rear wheel is located under the vehicle, instead of the tailgate, in line with all new Land Cruiser LC4 and LC5 models.
The Land Cruiser Invincible is on sale now and just 500 are available, priced on-the-road at £34,565.
AYGO: YOUNG, GIFTED AND BLACK
Even before it reached its first birthday, AYGO set the standard for the city car segment and proved its all-round excellence by claiming the Top Gear Car of the Year title. This summer the Aygo range offers more choice and style with the arrival of the new Aygo Black.
The newcomer is distinguished by its unique Tempest Black metallic paint, turbine-style eight-spoke alloy wheels, Aygo-branded scuff plates and leather gear knob. Other standard features include a six-speaker sound system with auxiliary input to link an iPod or digital music player, remote central locking, a split-folding rear seat, electric front windows, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and front and side airbags for the driver and front passenger. Both three and five-door body styles are available.
Aygo Black is available from 1 July, priced from £7,730 on the road.
