High Flying Corolla

16 January 2002

The woman turns and glances out of the rear side window of the Corolla. She is flying at 520mph, several thousand feet up!

That is the optical illusion that would greet any passing observer of this specially liveried airliner. But zoom out a bit and they would discover that this particular Corolla is a mile-high, fast-flying advertisement, painted on the side of the jet aircraft. For fun, the designers made the windows match up with the front and rear door windows on the Corolla.

The new Corolla is being introduced throughout Europe at this moment in time. Toyota Iceland decided on the theme “Take off with the new Corolla”. The natural approach to getting the message across was by joining hands with Icelandair, Iceland’s flag carrier.

Notes To Editors

In Iceland, Toyota enjoys a strong market share of 25% and five out of the six most popular models sold in 2001 were Toyotas. Icelandair serves major markets in Europe and North America. From its hub in Iceland, the airline’s fleet of Boeing 757s fly to London, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Oslo, Stockholm, Paris and Hamburg, as well as New York, Boston, Washington, Orlando and Minneapolis.
