New Toyota Aygo Range Puts the Emphasis on Sound and Vision with JBL Edition

8 July 2020
  • New Aygo JBL Edition features five-speaker JBL premium audio system and vibrant Electro Grey/Mandarin Pop paint finish and interior trim
  • Revised Aygo model range, now with Toyota Safety Sense as standard throughout

Hot looks and cool sounds are the order of the day for the Aygo JBL Edition, a new special edition model that leads changes to Toyota’s city car line-up for the summer.

JBL Edition

The JBL Edition packs a five-speaker JBL audio system that includes a 160mm subwoofer housed in the spare wheel well (a tyre repair kit is provided as standard). This can be linked to the owners’ sound library with easy smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, Bluetooth, or the USB port in the centre console.

The sounds are matched by the car’s visuals: the bodywork is in an exclusive combination of Electro Grey with bright Mandarin Pop for the roof, front pillars, door mirror casings, lower grille surround and side sills.

The vibrant orange theme is picked up in the cabin in the air vent and gear shift surrounds, the side bolsters and contrast stitching on the seats and the floor mat edging.

The new Aygo JBL Edition is on sale now, price £14,150 with five-speed manual transmission and £14,850 with the x-shift automated manual gearbox.

Revised range with Toyota Safety Sense as standard

Aygo becomes exclusively a five-door model for 2020, with three core equipment grades, each of which is fitted as standard with Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems.

This provides a Pre-Collision System with automatic emergency braking and Lane Departure Alert, to warn the driver if the car begins to deviate from its traffic lane,

Entry point to the new Aygo range is the x-play, which comes with air conditioning, height-adjustable driver’s seat, LED rear lights and the x-touch multimedia system with reversing camera, DAB and Bluetooth.

The x-trend adds 15-inch alloy wheels, front fog lights, automatic air conditioning, automatic headlights, rear privacy glass and exterior decals for the sills, bumpers and door mirror covers. The Funroof large, power-operated canvas roof can be specified as an option.

At the top of the range, the Aygo x-clusiv is additionally equipped with twin-spoke alloy wheels, part-leather seat upholstery and smart entry and start. A bi-tone paint finish is also standard.

Aygo’s highly efficient powertrain is unchanged, the 71bhp three-cylinder engine matched to either a five-speed manual or x-shift automated manual transmission. This delivers both sprightly performance and efficiency with combined cycle (WLTP) fuel economy of 53.3 to 56.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 114 to 120g/km for the manual version, and 51.4 to 54.3mpg and 118 to 124g/km for the x-shift.
