Toyota Acclaimed for World-Leading Environmental Excellence in the Newsweek Green Rankings
Newsweek magazine has again named Toyota as one of the world’s greenest companies, ranking 16th overall in annual Green Rankings and “Best in Industry Global” among car-makers.
The award recognises Toyota’s track record of achievements in sustainability and the environmental performance of its hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
Dr Johan van Zyl, President and CEO of Toyota Motor Europe, said: “The launch of our Environmental Challenge 2050 in 2015 reinforced the key areas in which we are reducing our impact on the environment throughout the entire lifecycle of our products. This recognition from Newsweek proves that the sustainable strategy that we have adopted at Toyota is paying dividends.”
The Newsweek Green Rankings evaluate the world’s largest publicly traded companies using eight metrics to assess their environmental performance. In partnership with Corporate Knights and HIP Investor, Newsweek scores companies against their industry peers on each metric, including levels of energy and water consumption and waste levels.
