Toyota Announces Dedicated Commercial Vehicle Network

27 February 2001

Toyota (GB) PLC aims to introduce a dedicated commercial vehicle centre network from next year. Continually reviewing its products and services offered to its customers, Toyota believes that the needs of the commercial vehicle customer are quite unique.

The introduction of a dedicated network will provide a tailored service ensuring its van customers’ requirements are met effectively. This new focus is particularly important with the introduction of an all-new Toyota Chassis Cab model in the final quarter of the year.

Toyota customers will be able to discuss their specific needs with a commercial vehicle sales specialist who will be able to organise signwriting, individual conversions, appropriate finance for the commercial vehicle user and flexible servicing which will keep down-time to a minimum. All of these will be available via the dedicated commercial vehicle network.

The dedicated commercial vehicle centres will address this greater need for flexibility for vehicle servicing, for example vehicles can be serviced towards the end of a working day to suit the needs of a self-employed commercial vehicle user.

Each commercial vehicle centre will include a dedicated commercial vehicle display area and have dedicated sales staff and management, trained to a high standard in commercial vehicle product knowledge. The training scheme will be run by Toyota GB Dealer Training & Development department commencing in the last quarter this year.

Toyota GB already has a number of very successful dealers who specialise in commercial vehicles. The new dedicated commercial vehicle centres will use these best-practiced dealers as a benchmark for their standards.

Toyota’s investment for the dedicated CV network is not so much in bricks and mortar but in people and products, Toyota Sales Director Tony Whitehorn explains: “We at Toyota are looking to seriously increase our commercial vehicle sales in the UK and this move towards a commercial vehicle centre network is just one of a number of initiatives we are taking to achieve this.”
