Toyota Celebrates 2005 Skills Awards

16 August 2005

This year’s Toyota Skills Awards focused on the work of service advisors with a mix of practical and theory tests for 24 contenders from around the country. The ultimate winner of the hard-fought contest was Frances Haines, of Toyota Ipswich.

The competition took place in July at the Toyota Academy in Salfords, Surrey. Competitors completed written tests and took part in role play sessions and interviews to demonstrate both their practical and personal skills.

Tony Whitehorn, Operations Director, Sales & After Sales at Toyota (GB) PLC presented Frances with her award. Thanks to her success in the competition, Frances will visit Japan to take part in Toyota’s Assembly of Customer Service Champions next April. She also collected a trophy and £1,000 of activity gift vouchers.

Tony Whitehorn said: “My congratulations go to Frances and all the Toyota Centre staff from across the country who took part in the competition. Events such as this reaffirm our commitment to developing the skills required to deliver the highest levels of customer service.”

Second place in the skills awards went to Scott Brown, also of Ipswich Toyota. Placed equal third were Michelle Trenholme (Western Toyota Edinburgh West), David Larkin (Harry Feeney, Blackpool), Clive Lockyear (Coronation Garage, Frinton on Sea), Clare Duckworth (RRG Bury) and Joanne Werrell (Listers Toyota Lincoln).
