Toyota dominates Auto Express Driver Power satisfaction survey with three class wins
- Yaris is best supermini and overall bronze car of the year award winner
- Corolla tops the family compact car class
- RAV4 named the best mid-to-large SUV and ranked fourth overall
- Owners rate their Toyotas highly on quality, reliability, cost of ownership and hybrid power
Toyota has outperformed all other manufacturers in the 2024 Auto Express Driver satisfaction survey, its models coming top in three categories at the heart of the UK car market.
Leading the way is Yaris, the highest-ranked car in the supermini class and winner of the overall Bronze Car of the Year award. Owners were full of praise for the car’s running costs, its value and its hybrid powertrain Quality and reliability also scored highly, giving Yaris a broad appeal.
Corolla is number one in the compact family car class, with owners appreciating the smoothness and efficiency of its powertrain and its ride and handling prowess. Safety, build quality and overall running costs also helped make sure it was top of its class.
RAV4 saw off numerous competitors in the mid-to-large SUV field and is the fourth highest-ranked model in the survey overall. Its hybrid system scored well for efficiency, smoothness and acceleration, with special praise also for the seats, rear leg room and visibility.
Paul Barker, Auto Express Editor, said: “For Toyota to take three segment victories when no other brand took more than one and to have two cars in the top four overall is testament to the ownership experience the brand provides. In particular, owners love the reliability, quality and efficiency of Toyota models, although there was praise across the full spectrum of qualities from people who are putting their own money into these cars and living with them on a daily basis.”
Stuart Sanders, Toyota (GB) Communications and Product Director, said: “Each year the Driver Power survey gives a voice to the UK’s car owners so it is hugely gratifying for them to have given such all-round approval for three of the models at the heart of our business. Their views support how we position our ever-more efficient hybrid power in our multi-path technology strategy for delivering sustainable CO2 reductions on the road to carbon neutrality and our commitment to delivering quality, durability and reliability in every car we make.”
First launched in 2001, Driver Power is the UK’s largest and most comprehensive car satisfaction survey in the UK, its findings representing the experiences and opinions of thousands of car owners nationwide.
