Fleet-friendly new Avensis (corrected)
The new Avensis strengthens the model’s appeal to fleet operators and business car users, in terms of performance, low tax rates and driver comfort during long stints at the wheel. The original press release quoted urban rather than combined cycle CO2 figures; that’s now been corrected on our media website. Read more here.

Drifting the Canadian way
Formula DRIFT is attracting big crowds in Canada with a competition series sponsored by Scion, Toyota’s North American youth-oriented brand. Patrick Cyr is the home grown star leading the field in the Scion FR-S – the American version of our GT86. Read more here.

European sales results
Toyota’s half-year European sales results have been issued, with performance going according to plan. Aygo and Yaris have been the stars of the first six months and hybrids now account for 22 per cent of all sales.

Toyota Sienta – no more boring MPVs
Toyota’s new Sienta is a compact MPV that promises more to break the concept of the boring school run vehicle. Available with hybrid power, all-wheel drive and seven-seat options, it’s the latest model for the Japanese market. Read more here.

Mirai: over there and coming here
The first consignment of Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell saloons has been offloaded in California ready for the start of sales on 20 July. Following its American introduction, Mirai will be offered in limited numbers in the UK and other selected European markets.

Best of the Blog: RAV4 restoration
As part of our activities marking 50 years of Toyota in the UK, an original three-door RAV4 has been added to our heritage vehicle fleet. The 1994-vintage vehicle is undergoing full restoration, a process charted step-by-step on our blog. Read more here.
