New C-HR breaks cover

Toyota has taken the wraps off its all-new C-HR, the second generation of its coupe-styled SUV. The new range will include both hybrid electric and plug-in hybrid electric versions and offer new technology features to provide a seamless, intuitive and personalised user experience. Read more here.

Meanwhile, as the current C-HR approaches the end of its lifecycle, Toyota is offering retail customers an AccessToyota PCP purchase plan through Toyota Financial Services with 2.9 per cent APR Representative and £2,000 Finance Deposit Allowance. Technology to change the future of cars

Toyota has provided a wide-ranging briefing on the technologies it is developing to deliver future sustainable mobility. It includes details of its vehicle electrification plans, progress with hydrogen power, advanced battery technologies and new, more efficient production systems. Read more here

…and motorsport

Toyota is not limiting its technology focus to road-going vehicles, it is also using motorsport to explore the potential of new fuels and powertrains. The Goodwood Festival of Speed provided a showcase for its latest projects, including its GR Yaris H2 rally car and H2 Prototype Le Mans sportscar concepts. Carbon-neutral e-fuel models were also on display and in action over the festival weekend. Read more here.

In Japan, meanwhile, progress is being made with using liquid hydrogen in an internal combustion engine, avoiding the need for high-pressure gas tanks. Details of the world-first project – which tests the technology in a racing Corolla – are revealed in a Toyota Times feature here.

…and space travel

Toyota Motor Corporation has published updates on the progress of the lunar exploration projects it is supporting, including its co-operation in the development of the Lunar Cruiser moon vehicle and LUPEX lunar rover, working with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and JAXA, the Japanese Exploration Agency. Building better cities

The Toyota Mobility Foundation, in partnership with Challenge Works and World Resources Institute, has launched the Sustainable Cities Challenge, a $9 million (approx. £7 million), three-year global initiative to help cities adapt to the future, with the potential to transform the lives of millions of people around the world. European sales growth

Toyota Motor Europe achieved a two per cent increase in its sales volume during the first half of 2023, with electrified vehicle sales up by six per cent year-on-year.  Read more here.
