Global design award for Prius Plug-in 

The all-new Prius Plug-in has added another major award to its honours collection, being named the 2024 World Car Design of the Year.  

Announced at the New York International Auto Show, the award was bestowed by a jury of 100 distinguished automotive journalists from around the world. Previously, the new Prius – soon to arrive in the UK – was the winner of the 2023 Car of the Year title in Japan and the 2024 North American Car of Year award. 

Order books open are now for the all-new Prius Plug-in with customer deliveries expected from July. Read more here and here. 

Land Cruiser latest 

Toyota has revealed the technical details of the all-new Land Cruiser, the latest evolution of the SUV legend that’s been a central feature of the brand’s history for more than 70 years. The new model delivers all the traditional Land Cruiser strengths of quality, durability and reliability and adopts a series of first-time features, including electric power steering and a (world-first) disconnecting anti-roll bar system. The range is set to include a new 48V mild hybrid version from 2025. Read more here.  

Drive electric, save on your insurance renewal 

Owners of the all-new Toyota C-HR Hybrid can take advantage of insurance cover that gives them the opportunity to save up to 10 per cent on their renewal premium, linked to the mileage they drive an all-electric EV mode in the course of the year. The new product, Toyota C-HR Hybrid Insurance, has been designed by Toyota Insurance Services and is the first of its kind on the UK market. Read more here

Ballot for in-demand new GR Yaris 

The new Toyota GR Yaris is expected to be one of the most sought-after new cars of 2024. To help ensure a smooth and fair sales process, Toyota is organising a ballot, with people who are existing owners or were on the previous model waiting list having the first chance to enter. Prices have also been announced for the new model range, which includes limited edition models engineered with input from World Rally Champions Sébastien Ogier and Kalle Rovanperä. Read more here

All hail bZ4X 

The all-electric Toyota bZ4X is ready for capital service with WeFlex ordering 165 of the smart SUVs for London’s ride-hailing market. WeFlex considers bZ4X to be an ideal proposition for the ride-hailing industry, appreciating its driving range of up to 318 miles, generous load space appropriate for airport runs and spacious cabin. Paris 2024 preparations 

Toyota has started delivering the fleet of vehicles and mobility devices it is providing to support the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In total Toyota will provide more than 2,650 electrified vehicles and 700 electric last-mile mobility machines. Read more here.
