Urban Cruiser debut

Urban Cruiser, Toyota’s upcoming battery electric compact SUV, made its public debut at the Brussels Motor Show. The all-new model will be launched in the UK later this year. Read more here.

Tokyo Auto Salon salutes GR heroes

Toyota celebrated the role of motorsport in developing great cars for the road at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Its presentation included new mid-engined M Concept and Aero Package prototype interpretations of the GR Yaris, alongside a line-up of some of the historic models that took on the challenge of the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race. The Toyota Corolla Hatchback and Touring Sports have once again proved to be the best in their class, the British-built models collecting honours for Best Family Car and Best Value Estate in the 2025 What Car? Awards. Read more here.

Toyota a top-10 global brand in new survey

Toyota is in the top 10 and the highest-ranked automotive business in YouGov’s Best Global Brands 2025.

Its position as one of “the world’s most loved consumer brands” is the result of more than a million customer surveys undertaken by YouGov in 28 markets around the globe. The research investigated each brand’s impression, quality, value, satisfaction, reputation and recommendation from the consumer perspective to produce an average index figure.

Record European sales

Toyota’s European new car sales reached a new record of 1,217,132 vehicles in 2024, an increase of four per cent on the previous year’s performance.  Toyota remains the region’s second highest-selling car brand. Read more here.

Community electric van programme

Toyota has launched a free vehicle loan programme providing electric Proace Verso people carriers to charities and community groups around the UK. Read more here.

Dakar Hilux heroes

The Toyota Hilux was once again the hero of the Dakar Rally, taking first and second place in the marathon event in Saudi Arabia. Read more here.

Toyota 1-2 success on the Monte

Toyota Gazoo Racing opened its 2025 World Rally Championship campaign in fine style with Sebastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans recording a one-two finish on the Monte-Carlo Rally. Read more here.

Woven City news

Construction work on the first phase of Toyota Woven City has been completed, putting the connected creative community project on course for formal launch later this year. Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda provided an update on the scheme’s progress and its confirmed “inventor” resident businesses at the recent CES 2025 in Las Vegas. Read more here.

Toyota backs next generation hydrogen refuelling tech

Toyota has signed an agreement with specialist partners in Europe to roll out hydrogen refuelling infrastructure using next generation technology that will reduce the cost and speed up refuelling times for customers. The Twin Mid Flow Technology could enable 40-tonne trucks to refuel for 600km driving in eight minutes and for 900km in 12. Read more here.
