Toyota’s Olympic and Paralympic Partnerships

Toyota became the official worldwide mobility partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Committees in 2015, for the 2017-2024 period, covering the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 (Korea) and Beijing 2022 (China) and the Olympic & Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. In this role, Toyota aims to encourage creation of a peaceful society without discrimination through sports and make a commitment to creating a sustainable society through mobility. In this spirit, Toyota also became the Global Partner of the Special Olympics International in 2017.

Toyota sustainable mobility for all

Toyota is providing a range ofsustainable mobility solutions to the athletes, officials, volunteers, accredited media and spectators at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. The company’s Paris 2024 passenger fleet includes around 1,150 all battery electric vehicles, which means 60% of the passenger fleet is zero tailpipe emissions. It also includes a further 750 all-electric last-mile vehicles such as C+walkS, C+walkT, wheelchair e-pullers and 250  APMs (Accessible People Movers), together with 150 wheelchair-accessible Toyota Proace vehicles, which have been designed especially for people with restricted mobility in and around official venues. These will form the most inclusive and sustainable mobility fleet ever seen at an Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Toyota’s Start Your Impossible campaign

The latest chapter of Toyota’s Start Your Impossible global marketing campaign for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 showcases the power of local communities supporting their athletes, and the belief that no journey is taken alone. Now running across broadcast commercials, digital video, digital content, paid social, out of home (OOH), and programmatic advertising, it features more than 20 Olympic and Paralympic athletes, including double Paralympic champion and Toyota GB ambassador, Jonnie Peacock.

Toyota GB Olympic and Paralympic ambassadors

Toyota GB has partnered with a number of athletes participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024 who embody Toyota’s Start Your Impossible message – that you can overcome challenges and achieve your goals.

Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix, aged 19, has been diving for 11 years and is already a world-class competitor. She won her first solo gold at the 2020 FINA Diving Grand Prix and has amassed more than 20 senior national and international medals, including two golds at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, two golds at the European Games in Rome, and three medals at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha in February this year. She will be competing in the women’s 10m platform event in Paris.

Jonnie Peacock is a world-renowned British Paralympic sprinter, celebrated for his exceptional performances in the T44 classification for athletes with lower limb amputations. He made a significant impact at the 2012 London Paralympic Games where he won gold in the men’s 100m final, setting a record time of 10.90 seconds. He went on to win gold at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Paralympic Games, then bronze in the T64 event at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.

Dame Laura Kenny is Britain’s most successful female Olympian. She made her debut at the 2012 London Games, winning two gold medals in the team pursuit and omnium events. She subsequently defended both titles at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.  Now retired, Dame Laura will be part of BBC Sport’s presenting team at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

British racing driver Billy Monger became known for his remarkable journey of resilience and determination in the world of motorsport after a severe crash during a British F4 race at Donington Park in April 2017 resulted in the amputation of both his legs. He made an inspiring comeback driving a modified race car and has continued to compete in high-level races. He will be part of Channel 4’s broadcast team at the Paralympics.

Toyota and Everybody Moves

ParalympicsGB and Toyota launched the ground-breaking Every Body Moves initiative – an evolution of the award winning Parasport powered by Toyota platform which has grown to become the nation’s largest online destination for connecting people with thousands of inclusive sporting and physical activities. The platform, co-produced with disabled people, features more than 7,000 inclusive sessions and a range of virtual workouts, hints and tips.
