New Hilux and Land Cruiser models swell LCV line-up
Toyota had plenty to be proud of at the Commercial Vehicle Show, with the announcement a new Hilux Invincible X and Limited Edition models plus the arrival of a new Land Cruiser Utility Commercial, These newcomers lined up alongside Arctic Trucks’ polar-beating Hilux conversion – on direct sale to UK customers for the first time. Toyota powers up with new electrified models
There is no let-up in Toyota’s plans to bring more electrified vehicles to the market, with a raft of new models revealed and announced at the Beijing Motor Show. China will be the first market to benefit from the acceleration in product development, with plans announced for new plug-in hybrid electric versions of Corolla and Levin and a battery electric model based on the Toyota C-HR crossover. Racing Supra makes virtual debut
The Toyota GR Supra Racing Concept has quickly moved from motor show sensation to star of the gaming world. A virtual rendition of the track machine has been rendered in perfect detail for Gran Turismo Sport™, available exclusively on PlayStation®4. Read more here.
Toyota Connected to open European base in London
Toyota Connected is extending the global reach of its tech-driven mobility solutions business with a new start-up, Toyota Connect Europe. Based in London, this will support the growing number of mobility businesses in the region with new products and services. Read more here.
Action on hydrogen and sustainability
Toyota is among a number of businesses, organisations, experts and local authority groups working together to help bring about a hydrogen-based society in Japan’s Aichi prefecture. The first step towards the “2030 Vision” is the launch of a renewable energy, low carbon hydrogen project. Read more here.
There are further developments in California where Toyota and Equilon Enterprises, a Shell Oil Products company, are in line to receive state energy commission funding support to open a hydrogen truck refuelling station at the Port of Long Beach, one of the world’s largest freight hubs.
Also in North America, Toyota has reaffirmed its commitment to a sustainable future, making clear its regional goals supporting Toyota’s Global Environmental Challenge 2050.
Guide Dog in the making
Banjo the labrador retriever puppy has started his training to become a Guide Dog, with funding from Toyota GB as part of its on-going support for the charity that helps people with sight loss. A new short film reveals more about what’s required of a Guide Dog from Banjo’s personal trainer. Read more here.

Ott Tänak excelled on Rally Argentina to post his first world championship win for Toyota Gazoo Racing in the Yaris WRC. Read more here.
Defra ditches diesel for a Toyota hybrid electric fleet
Defra, the Government department responsible for the environment, food and rural affairs is making the switch from diesel to introduce British-built Toyota Auris Hybrids to its car fleet. The new deal will see more than 400 new vehicles being acquired by the department. Read more here.
