Toyota Offers Today’s Cars At Less Than Last Year’s Prices

12 October 2000

Up to 21 Per Cent Better Value over Last Year’s Models

Toyota, the first manufacturer to react to Ford’s move on pricing, was not only quicker than Vauxhall and the rest, but at up to 15 per cent off list prices, offers bigger price reductions as well.

Added to the higher specification of many new models, the effect of this latest move is that, compared with 12 months ago, Toyota now offers savings of up to 21 per cent.

Since last year’s London Motor Show, Toyota has launched an unrivalled eight new models into the UK market all of which offer significant technical and equipment improvements over the models they replaced but at lower prices.

For example, Toyota’s new version of its small family car, the Corolla, is almost 21 per cent cheaper to buy than the previous model. In value terms this means a saving of £2,350 for the customer. This price reduction applies across the range. In the sports car sector the new MR2 Roadster voted Best in Class by independent experts at Evo magazine shows a 19 per cent cost reduction over its predecessor – making the new model, with its increased specification £4,420 cheaper to buy.

The table overleaf shows a breakdown of price savings on this year’s new Toyota models compared with this time last year. This means Toyota is offering new, better specified cars for less than last year’s prices.
