Toyota Offers Worldwide Grant Support for Environmental Projects

9 April 2018

Toyota’s commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment goes beyond the business of designing cleaner vehicles and factories to support initiatives worldwide that safeguard wildlife, plant species and natural habitats through practical work and education.

Applications are now open for the 2018 Toyota Environmental Activities Grant Programme, which is designed to support environmental revitalisation and conservation efforts aimed at sustainable development.

This is the 19th year of the programme, which was established in recognition of Toyota receiving the Global 500 Award from the United Nations Environment Programme in 1999. During that time it has supported 360 projects in 53 countries and regions around the world. Its mission is to contribute to the resolution of environmental concerns and help produce a new generation of leaders who will drive change both locally and globally.

This year’s themes are Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change, with grants available for private and non-profit organisations and groups. The activities selected for the programme will form part of the initiatives supporting the ambitions of the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.

In the past year the programme has supported a wide range of ventures, including the restoration of coral reefs, reforestation projects, citizen training to help combat illegal logging, the reintroduction of wildlife to former habitats and action to remove invasive plant species.

Applications for 2018 may be submitted to Toyota Motor Corporation up to 8 June, with the announcement of final selections scheduled for October.
