Yaris Supermini Gets More Street Cred
YARIS WINS SMALL CAR AWARD IN AUTO EXPRESS USED CAR HONOURS 2002
Toyota Yaris gets more street cred after Auto Express readers and a panel of industry experts voted the popular supermini Winner of the Small Car Category in the Auto Express Used Car Honours 2002.
Auto Express commented: “The Yaris’s interior is modern, user friendly and comfortable, making this accomplished city slicker equally at home on longer jaunts. Even the 1.0-litre version provides ample performance for most users, even on motorways.”
Auto Express also praised the rich quality of Yaris stating that you never feel that you have dumbed down your motoring, only down-sized. The 1.5-litre T Sport option was also recommended for enthusiastic drivers illustrating just how competent the Yaris’s chassis really is.
Toyota’s sleek Celica received a commendation in the coupe category for its bold and imposing exterior look with strong 1.8-litre VVT-i engines and good residual values. Auto Express liked the 190bhp engine commenting on its fine performance and slick gearbox.
The Auto Express used car awards are the most comprehensive in the business drawing on the running costs and residual values from over 15,000 cars held in the database of Glass’s Guide.
Auto Express also called on readers who own, run and live with cars in the real world as well as its own used car experts, including Mike Brewer of Channel 4’s Deals on Wheels show, plus the magazine’s own road test and motoring team to judge the shortlisted models.
