New Toyota Proace Named What Van? LCV of the Year

13 December 2016

The new Toyota Proace has proved itself the pick of the medium duty van market, winning both its category and the overall LCV of the Year title in this year’s What Van? Awards, hosted in London today.

Speaking for the award judges, James Dallas, What Van? Editor, said: “This outstanding, innovative van represents a leap forward compared to its predecessor and deserves to establish Toyota as a major player in the crucial medium van sector.”

Mark Roden, Toyota GB Sales Director, said: “This award is much valued and recognises the real advances we have made in developing a van that delivers on hard-wearing, lasting quality, innovation and practicality. We’ve also made sure that Proace provides all the equipment today’s customers demand, in terms of safety, comfort and convenience in a range that reaches every part of the sector.”

Introduced this summer, Proace provides a comprehensive range that embraces three wheelbases, payloads up to 1.4 tonnes and commercial load volume up to 6.6m3. Bringing innovative design to a hugely competitive market, Proace Compact’s packaging succeeds in providing medium van load capacity within a compact van footprint. The availability of a Smart Cargo system also adds valuable extra load space, by means of a bulkhead opening and lifting front passenger seat base. As well as a standard panel van, Proace is is also available in a nine-seat Combi version; it also provides the basis for Toyota’s new Proace Verso large MPV.
