Three years, three wins for the Toyota Corolla Commercial

9 May 2025

The British-built Toyota Corolla Commercial reigns supreme in its class, retaining the Small Van of the Year title in the Van Fleet World awards for a third successive year.

Introduced as a unique proposition– a full hybrid small van based on the Corolla Touring Sports passenger car – it continues to set the bar for convenience and performance.

John Kendall, Van Fleet World Editor, commented: “It’s a third-time win in succession for the Corolla Commercial, which, for the moment at least, has no real competitors. Even if it did, it has carved out a useful niche for itself. Its load area is accessible from both sides and the rear and it’s easy to drive with Toyota’s latest generation hybrid system introduced last year.  This brings 60mpg within reach, and at petrol, not diesel prices.”

The Corolla Commercial is built at Toyota’s Burnaston plant in Derbyshire. The conversion process removes the rear seats from the Touring Sports model, creating a 1,326-litre load space. The conversion also includes a full metal bulkhead and rubber-lined cargo bay. In other areas it retains many of the useful and valued features of the passenger car, including the Toyota Safety Sense advanced active safety and driver assistance systems, dual-zone air conditioning, heated front seats and a multimedia system with eight-inch display.

In common with all other Toyota models, including the Toyota Professional light commercials, it is eligible for Toyota warranty protection for up to 10 years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first). Other customer benefits provided with new Toyota Professional vehicles include five years’ free roadside assistance, servicing appointments at the customer’s convenience and transparent service pricing.
