Barnwell Seals Greener Fleet Deal With Toyota Hybrids
M. Barnwell Services Ltd, the UK’s largest stockist and distributor of fluid sealing products, has targeted its vehicle fleet in its mission to cut its carbon footprint, dropping diesels in favour of new Toyota hybrids.
The Midlands-based company, which has offices across the UK mainland, has chosen British-built Auris Hybrid Touring Sports cars for its national sales teams. Up to 25 will join the fleet, matching excellent load-carrying ability with the low emissions and strong fuel economy that are key characteristics of Toyota’s full hybrid system.
As well as efficient performance, Auris Hybrid Touring Sports delivers a smooth, quiet and refined drive that is ideal for business people making long-distance journeys, or negotiating stop-start urban traffic.
Tim Stanley, M. Barnwell Services Financial Controller, said: “We are looking at all aspects of our business to find ways of reducing our carbon footprint and complying with the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management. Our vehicle fleet is a significant factor in this and we can see the real benefits to be gained from making the switch from diesel to hybrid power.
“The Toyota Auris Hybrid Touring Sports meets our requirements in terms of cleaner performance, but also in providing the space, quality and reliability our sales teams require for their work right across the country.”
M. Barnwell Services was founded in 1972 by its chairman and managing director Michael Barnwell. It has grown to become the UK’s largest stockist and distributor of fluid sealing products, supplying customer service centres in strategic locations across the country from a market-leading stock of globally sourced products held at its central warehouse in Birmingham.
The company has organised its new fleet with support from Toyota Financial Services.
