Toyota delivers the first vehicles for the 2025 Special Olympics Winter World Games
Toyota began the delivery of vehicles supporting the 36th Special Olympics Winter World Games Torino 2025 during an official ceremony at Toyota Motor Italy headquarters in Rome.
The fleet of 140 electrified vehicles will support the event’s mobility needs, ensuring safe, sustainable, and environmentally efficient transport for stakeholders, staff, volunteers and guests. They are being supplied by the company in its role as a global part of the Special Olympics and the Mobility Partner for the Torino games.
Through this sports partnership, Toyota aims to promote a society without barriers and discrimination, where everyone can face and overcome their challenges.
The vehicles demonstrate Toyota’s multi-path technology approach, which integrates advanced solutions – full hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric, and hydrogen fuel cell – to meet diverse mobility needs with environmental sustainability and innovation.
The fleet, intended to meet the mobility needs of this international event dedicated to athletes with intellectual disabilities, will ensure safe transportation with a reduced environmental impact. This support seeks to highlight the talent, determination, and ability to overcome barriers that Special Olympics athletes exemplify with strength and inspiration.
Alberto Santilli, CEO of Toyota Motor Italy, said: “For us, it is very significant to begin the journey toward Torino 2025 with the delivery of this fleet of vehicles, bringing to life a collaboration where technology and values come together to support an event that celebrates inclusion and courage. Being alongside Special Olympics is a great source of pride: the athletes represent an example of determination, courage, and strength. These same values inspire us every day to develop technologies capable of improving quality of life and ensuring freedom of movement for all, leaving no one behind.”
Toyota’s collaboration with Special Olympics was launched in 2020 and is part of an established international Toyota strategy to promote a more inclusive society. Toyota has always been committed to ensuring freedom of movement for everyone. This has involved developing innovative technologies that improve quality of life, reduce environmental impact, and make mobility accessible to all – without barriers. This creates an environment that allows each individual to fully express their potential, and pursue a sustainable, innovative, and diverse future.
