Toyota fashion collaboration delivers street-stylish Aygo X UNDERCOVER

8 March 2023
  • Limited edition model designed in partnership with Jun Takahashi’s cult fashion brand UNDERCOVER
  • World premiere during Paris Fashion Week followed by UK debut this week as part of Toyota’s major product display at Westfield London

Toyota has joined with one of the foremost talents in international fashion to create the new Aygo X UNDERCOVER. Having made its world debut during Paris Fashion Week, this hot new addition to the city car scene will be taking pride of place in Toyota’s major product display at Westfield London.

The model’s UK premiere will run from this Friday until 26 March, giving visitors the chance to take a close-up look at the distinctive styling details that Jun Takahashi’s cult fashion brand has brought to Aygo X. Customers can sign up to be kept informed in the lead-up to the car’s official on-sale date, both in person at Westfield and via a dedicated web page on the Toyota customer website at www.toyota.co.uk.

Just 5,000 examples are being released across Europe, adding extra cachet to this special collaboration.

Aygo X UNDERCOVER is offered exclusively with a new grey bi-tone metallic paint finish, inspired by urban cityscapes, and new 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels. Red Coral details create an eye-catching contrast, the colour picked out in wheel inserts and decals on the side sills and lower front and rear bumpers. UNDERCOVER’s famous “CHAOS/BALANCE” brand catchwords are spelled out in white roof decals and are featured in the geometric pattern of the carpet mats inside the car.

UNDERCOVER and Jun Takahashi logos are emblazoned on the tailgate, the front seats and the carpet mats. The part-leather seat upholstery (supplied as standard) combines black with a Bordeaux deep red fabric that throws Aygo X’s signature hexagon motif pattern into sharp relief. Elsewhere in the cabin there are Coral Red highlights on the steering wheel, centre console and multimedia display surround.

The Aygo X UNDERCOVER has the highest equipment specification of any model in the current line-up. In addition to the special features detailed above it also comes as standard with heated front seats and with the option of a JBL premium audio system. Elsewhere, it matches the regular Aygo X Exclusive with key items including smart entry and push-button start, wireless smartphone charging tray, Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system with nine-inch display and navigation, air conditioning that can be activated remotely (via the MyT app) to warm or cool the cabin before a journey and easy smartphone integration using Apple CarPlay (wireless connection) or Android Auto (wired connection). Notwithstanding its compact size, Aygo X UNDERCOVER – in common with all Aygo X models – comes with Toyota Safety Sense active safety and driver assistance systems as standard.

The powertrain features Toyota’s award-winning 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a choice of manual or automatic transmission.

Order books will open in April with first deliveries to customers expected in June. On-the-road prices are £20,095 for the manual version and £21,195 for the automatic. The JBL premium audio option adds £495 to the price.

Toyota at Westfield London

Toyota is hosting its largest public product display yet in the main atrium at Westfield London, one of the capital’s leading retail centres.

Aygo X UNDERCOVER will be added to the presentation this week, joining the Aygo X Air and nine other Toyota models. These include the “power of three” GR sports cars – GR Yaris, GR86 and GR Supra – and GR Sport versions of Yaris and Corolla. The SUVs on show include the recently launched Yaris Cross and all-electric bZ4X, plus RAV4 and the Toyota C-HR.

On 20 March the focus will widen to include the Toyota Professional range of light commercial vehicles, featured at Westfield for the first time. They will include the battery electric Proace and Proace City EV vans and the new Hilux GR Sport pick-up.

As well as showcasing new vehicles, the display also demonstrates how Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell stack works, creating electric power from hydrogen fuel with no harmful exhaust emissions – just pure water.
