Toyota launches sales of the new Yaris Cross

26 August 2026

  • Styling and equipment updates for Toyota’s compact SUV
  • Hybrid 130 powertrain now standard on all versions
  • Available to order now with on-the-road prices from £27,445

The Yaris Cross is a Toyota success story, the stylish compact hybrid SUV having quickly established itself as the brand’s best-seller in Europe. Four years on from its introduction it is benefiting from refreshed styling and extra equipment features, further strengthening its customer appeal.

A stronger look

Although compact in size, Yaris Cross has eye-catching and strong SUV proportions. Its confident road presence is rendered all the more commanding with a revised frontal treatment that introduces a new honeycomb mesh for the front grille. Finished in the body colour, this integrates seamlessly with bodywork to create a seamless, coherent effect. The black lower grille, flared wheel arch fenders and sills add to the robust SUV stance.

There are also new-design headlights with integrated daytime running lights and there are new 17 and 18-inch alloy wheels for the Design and Excel grade models.

Where the GR Sport is concerned, a more technical, driven look is created with a revised front bumper that incorporates side pods adjacent to the deeply recessed fog lights. These elements emphasise the car’s wide, athletic stance.

The choice of exterior colours features three new finishes: Precious Bronze, Persian Salt and Storm Grey.

Hybrid power with front or all-wheel drive

Yaris Cross has earned critical acclaim for the efficiency of its hybrid powertrains, the original model establishing a new average fuel economy record in What Car?’s True MPG Award.

For the 2027 model the Hybrid 130 powertrain becomes standard across all versions. Offering a maximum 129bhp (130 DIN hp), this has an official (WLTP combined) fuel consumption figure of 55.3 to 64.1mpg, according to equipment grade. All-wheel drive is available as an option on the Excel version.

New equipment features

The equipment specifications for all new Yaris Cross models have been extended, starting with the entry-level Icon grade. This gains auto-folding door mirrors and LED headlights with automatic high beam, in addition to established features such as 16-inch alloys, a reversing camera and multimedia system with nine-inch touchscreen.

Moving up to Design grade, the latest additions include a wireless phone charging tray, parking sensors and new sports-style front seats. The 17-inch alloy wheels have a new design with a contrast machined finish on the spokes.

For the Excel grade there are new 18-inch alloy wheels and new seat upholstery that combines leather sections with cushions covered in new SakuraTouch, made from sustainable and recycled materials. Other standard features include a 12.3-inch instrument combimeter, 10.5-inch Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system, front and rear under-runs, a power back door, heated steering wheel and metallic paint, plus an Advanced Safety pack comprising front and rear parking sensors with auto-braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitor, Safe Exit Assist, Lane Change Assist, Panoramic View Monitor and advanced parking assist. The Excel is also newly available with a bi-tone paint finish option, combining the body colour paintwork with a contrasting black roof and pillars.

The GR Sport Yaris Cross gains a power back door and a Blind Spot Monitor, together with the Advanced Safety pack. A bi-tone paint finish, Ultrasuede seat upholstery, 18-inch grey alloy wheels and GR Sport styling accents are also included in the specification.

A Skyview panoramic roof can be specified as an option for the Excel and GR Sport models. The Safety Pack (front and rear parking sensors with Intelligent Clearance Sonar and automatic braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Blind Spot Monitor, Safe Exit Assist, Lane Change Assist, auto-folding door mirrors) is an option for Design grade.

Customers can personalise their car with a wide range of accessory packs to add style and protection features.
