Toyota power for cricket’s Barmy Army
Toyota is backing the charity work of cricket’s Barmy Army by providing the organisation with a British-built Auris Hybrid this summer. The Touring Sports model, finished in patriotic colours, will be used by the sport fans’ organisation with its nationwide charity cricket and golf events, raising funds for the Lord’s Taverners. Toyota has reached its golden anniversary in the UK and taken time to reflect on 50 years that have taken it from a one-model offering to a major industry player that not only sells cars in Britain, but builds them here, too. Read more here.
Children’s dream cars brought to life
The Toyota Dream Car Art contest, a global competition for children to design their vision of the car of the future, is in its ninth year and in the build-up to the grand final, Toyota has brought more than 90 of the best artworks to life in a series of colourful 15-second animations. The Dream Car Collection will see new winning entries added every day through to 25 August. Read and see more here.
Awards by the dozen
Toyota is hugely popular in Canada (where it also builds some North American models), witnessed by a grand haul of awards from Vincentric, a leading auto industry data organisation. The accolades include “best passenger vehicle value” and “best hybrid brand”, together with a dozen honours for individual Toyota group models. Read more here.
