Prices and specifications for 2019’s first new Toyotas

Prices and specifications have been announced for the first new Toyota models to arrive in 2019. The all-new Corolla Hatchback and Touring Sports, to be built at the TMUK plant at Burnaston, will all feature second generation Toyota Safety Sense and will be the first Toyota models in Europe to offer a choice of two hybrid powertrains. The fifth generation RAV4 will also be arriving in the spring, the first Toyota SUV to adopt a TNGA platform. It will be an all-hybrid line-up, available with a new AWD-i intelligent electric all-wheel drive system. Read more here.

Toyota and Groupe PSA announce next chapter of long-term partnership

Groupe PSA will supply a new compact van to Toyota and Toyota will take financial control of the jointly operated TPCA manufacturing plant in the Czech Republic in the next chapter of the long-term partnership between the two businesses. Read more here.

Remote robot control

Toyota and technology partner DOCOMO have successfully trialled a new remote control system for Toyota’s T-HR3 humanoid support robot, using 5G technology. The system allowed an operator to manipulate the robot using a Master Manoeuvring System about six miles distant from the robot’s location. Read more here.

Corolla to quest for touring car glory

The new Toyota Corolla is to campaign in the 2019 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. Two-time Independent Champion Tom Ingram will drive the car, entered by Team Toyota GB with Speedworks Motorsport. Read more here.

New AWD system for 2019 Prius

The 2019 Toyota Prius has been revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show, debuting a new Hybrid AWD-i intelligent electric all-wheel drive system. The revised model will be seen in Europe for the first time at the Brussels Motor Show before being introduced to the market later in the year. Read more here.

Toyota becomes a Presenting Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay

Toyota has partnered with the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to become the Presenting Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay. As the official mobility partner, Toyota will also take part in the relay, providing the lead car and showcasing new mobility technologies. Read more here.

More than 10 million Toyotas now benefit from the advanced systems of Toyota Safety Sense, The technology is helping deliver a reduction in real-world accidents involving Toyota vehicles. Read more here.

Champions!

Toyota has claimed the World Rally Championship manufacturers’ crown in just its second year since returning to the top-flight motorsport competition. The title was clinched thanks to Jari-Matti’s season-closing victory on Rally Australia in the Yaris WRC. Read more here.

Toyota cleans up with hydrogen burner technology

Toyota is helping cut its factory emissions with the development of the world’s first general-purpose industrial hydrogen burner. The new burner produces no CO2 emissions and has gone into service at Toyota’s Honsha plant. Read more here.

The new Toyota Corolla is not just being built in Britain, it’s being extensively road-tested here, too. While 10 heavily camouflaged vehicles did the early trials, a new fleet of four have been out and about with an eye-catching wrap designed to attract people’s attention and interest in the new model.  Read more here.
