Toyota Professional models out in force at the 2022 Commercial Vehicle Show
Toyota will showcase the breadth of its growing range of Toyota Professional models at the 2022 Commercial Vehicle Show, taking place at the NEC in Birmingham from 24 to 26 May.
The line-up – Toyota’s most extensive yet at the show – includes the new Hilux GR Sport, making its UK debut, and the production-ready Corolla Commercial, a new car-derived van that has been developed and built in Britain at Toyota Manufacturing UK’s Burnaston plant.
Several of the show vehicles will feature accessories, liveries and other features prepared and fitted at TMUK Burnaston, including a Corolla Commercial in a “blue light” specification suitable for emergency services.
Hilux GR Sport
The forthcoming GR Sport is the new top-of-the-range version of Toyota’s world-famous Hilux pick-up. It’s inspired by Toyota Gazoo Racing’s success in the gruelling Dakar Rally, the team having scored victories with their race-prepared Hilux in 2019 and 2022.
Making its UK debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show, it is available to order now from Toyota retailers.
A double cab model, the GR Sport has a dedicated suspension system with new monotube shock absorbers (in eye-catching bright red) and front springs. Its tough credentials are reflected in its sports styling: features include contrast black/machined 17-inch alloys with all-terrain tyres, black door mirror casings, side steps, over-fenders and tailgate handle, sports front seats and carbon fibre-style cabin trim. It also stands out from the rest of the range with discreet GR badging and a black front grille with a G-pattern mesh and a prominent central bar with the TOYOTA name rendered in the company’s classic off-roader style.
Equipment features provided as standard include a sports bar, premium JBL sound system, navigation, heated front and rear seats and a Panoramic View Monitor which gives an all-round view of the vehicle’s immediate surroundings to help with precise manoeuvring over rough terrain. Power is provided by Toyota’s 201bhp 2.8-litre engine, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.
It will be joined on the show stand by an Icon grade Hilux, sporting a selection of accessories – both practical equipment and styling features.
Corolla Commercial
Corolla Commercial is the UK and Europe’s first self-charging, full hybrid electric van. It’s derived from the Corolla Touring Sports wagon, with conversion work carried out at Toyota Manufacturing UK’s Burnaston car plant in Derbyshire.
Offering a payload of 465kg in its flat-floored, rubber-lined load space and capable of towing loads of up to 750kg, it is a highly capable and versatile proposition for business users who want to reduce their carbon emissions but for whom an all-electric model is not viable. Toyota’s fourth generation hybrid system gives a generous all-electric driving capability that’s ideal for urban deliveries, while the hybrid system ensures there’s always the freedom to make longer trips whenever required, with no need to schedule down-time for recharging.
Toyota’s show vehicles include versions finished with “blue light” specialist features and equipment and a model demonstrating the vehicle wrapping service that TMUK can provide to meet customers’ corporate branding and livery requirements. The Land Cruiser Commercial – a similar car-derived van – will also be on view.
Proace Electric family
Toyota’s Proace Electric vans will be on display – the medium duty Proace Electric and the compact Proace City Electric – both in Icon grade specification. Together these models cover a wide range of load capacity and payload requirements and have flexibility designed-in with Toyota’s ingenious Smart Cargo system enabling load space to be easily extended with a folding front seat arrangement.
All new Toyota commercial vehicles have a three-year vehicle warranty, after which it qualifies for the free Toyota Relax warranty of up to 10 years/100,000 miles, (for terms and conditions visit www.toyota.co.uk). In addition, the Toyota Professional customer promise means all models come with five years’ roadside assistance and the guarantee of a service appointment within seven days. If the service target is not met, the customer qualifies for a 50 per cent reduction in servicing labour costs (for terms and conditions, visit www.toyota.co.uk).
