Toyota raises more than £1 million in charity partnership with the Motor Neurone Disease Association
Toyota’s partnership with the MND Association (MND) has reached the milestone of more than £1 million raised to support the charity in its work helping people living with and affected by motor neurone disease and research into new treatments for the condition.
The sum has been achieved through a huge variety of fund-raising efforts over the past five years by groups and individuals from Toyota (GB), Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK, Toyota Financial Services, Toyota Insurance Services and KINTO UK. They have cycled, they have baked, they have run marathons, they have walked, they have climbed mountains and they have even taken soggy sponges to the face, all to bring in valuable donations to the good cause.
Toyota employees chose MNDa as the company’s UK corporate charity partner in 2021, in memory of Rachel Rollason, a much-loved and respected colleague who suffered from MND, a terminal neurological condition that affects up to 5,000 people in the UK at any one time.
It captured the hearts of minds of people across Toyota’s UK businesses, prompting the partnership to be extended for a further two years in 2025. Such has been the pace of fund-raising, it has taken just 18 months for the total to double from £500,000 to £1 million – the largest sum yet raised for the association through a partnership.
Tanya Curry, Motor Neurone Disease Association Chief Executive, said: “To become our first corporate partner to raise £1 million is an incredible achievement. Everyone at Toyota should be enormously proud of what they have accomplished.
“Inspired by Rachel’s legacy, they have created an outstanding partnership that has changed lives, raised awareness and shown the incredible impact a company can have when its people come together behind a cause they care about. We couldn’t be more grateful for their support.”
Luigi Ksawery Luca’, Toyota (GB) President and Managing Director, said: “My sincere thanks go to all those Toyota colleagues who have made our partnership with MNDa such a rewarding experience over the past six years. Their exceptional efforts and the great work done by the association have been inspirational, helping us reach this great total.”
