As Toyota continues to introduce full hybrid technology across its core model range, it continues to refine the quality, performance and owner-appeal of Prius, still the world’s best-known and best-selling hybrid vehicle.
Toyota presents several new models today at the Frankfurt motor show, with world premieres for both the new Avensis and the new Prius family of full hybrid models. The new 2012 Hilux also makes its European debut and the three-door version of the recently launched new Yaris is on public view for the first time.
Since 1997, Toyota has sold more than 3.3 million full hybrid vehicles worldwide. This represents more than 80 per cent of all global hybrid sales, and gives the company an unquestionable lead in the drive towards sustainable mobility. As concrete proof of HSD’s environmental record, these sales have already contributed to a reduction in automotive emissions of about 21 million tonnes of CO2.
Leading airport taxi service Checker Cars has taken delivery of the first of an order for 80 Toyota Prius cars. The five full hybrid hatchbacks arrived at the company’s Stansted, Essex office in early March to take their place in an existing fleet of 80 MPVs, and will be followed by 10 more at Stansted over the next two months.
