Relax, you’re covered by Toyota
Toyota Relax is a new warranty programme unlike any other on the UK market, giving Toyota owners automatic cover for one year/10,000 miles each time they have their vehicle serviced at an official Toyota dealership. There’s no extra cost and the cover can be maintained up to 10 years or 100,000 miles of driving. Read more here.
Number one for reliability
Perhaps not surprisingly, the best warrant cover is provided by the car brand with the best reputation for reliability, according to motorists responding to Auto Trader’s survey. The results earned Toyota the Most Reliable Brand title in the magazine’s 2021 awards. Read more here.
Woven news
Woven City, Toyota’s prototype for a future sustainable, connected community, is exploring the possibility of using hydrogen produced in Japan’s Fukushima prefecture. The region is focusing on hydrogen and development of a model for a future hydrogen society as part of its reconstruction following the local devastation caused by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Meanwhile, Woven Alpha, a subsidiary of Toyota, Isuzu and Hino, is looking at development of a new automated mapping platform to create comprehensive, high-definition maps that can be used by automated vehicles. Read more here.
Plug-in to new Design
Toyota’s hybrid flagship, the RAV4 Plug-in, has a new Design gateway grade. It’s high-tech powertrain is matched by an impressive equipment manifest that includes a full complement of Toyota Safety Sense active safety and driver assistance systems. Read more here.
H2 covers 1K
A Toyota Mirai has covered more than 1,000km on a single tank of hydrogen fuel in an exhibition drive in France. The fuel cell electric saloon comfortably went beyond its official driving range, producing no emissions other than pure water. Read more here
One-two in race 100
Toyota Gazoo Racing’s new Hypercar claimed a one-two finish in Toyota’s 100th World Endurance Championship race last weekend. Read more about the race here and Toyota’s WEC record here.
New racing Hilux in action
A new racing Hilux chassis and engine are in action this weekend in Africa’s toughest road race. The 1,000km marathon in South Africa is a key event in Toyota Gazoo Racing’s preparations for an even greater challenge, the 2022 Dakar Rally. Read more here.
