Hybrid’s fifth generation on its way

Toyota will introduce an updated Corolla range in early 2023, introducing the benefits of its fifth generation hybrid electric technology to UK customers. More power and responsiveness can be expected from the British-built Hatchback and Touring Sports models, but with no penalty in terms of fuel and emissions efficiency. Read more here.

The GR effect

With Toyota Gazoo Racing on course to add to its world championship successes this year, everyday motorists can enjoy GR style with new GR Sport versions of popular models. Both Yaris and Yaris Cross offer new GR Sport options, following the example set by Corolla, Toyota C-HR and Hilux. Read more here and here.

Just add hydrogen…

Toyota is exploring many opportunities to harness the clean energy potential of hydrogen, beyond the world of transport and mobility. One of its latest projects is to explore how the gas can be used for innovative cooking techniques, working in conjunction with sustainable living business Rinnai. The concept of carbon-free cooking is being developed as part of the activities in Woven City, a new, connected “living lab” community that Toyota is developing in Japan. Read more here.

Dream designs desired

Entries are now being welcomed for the national round of Toyota’s annual Dream Car Contest. Children of all ages can submit their wild and wonderful visions for futuristic vehicles that could help make the planet a better place. Prizes await the winners, plus the chance to compete in the global finals. Read more here.

30 years and five million engines

Toyota’s Deeside factory in North Wales hosted Government guests, VIPs, partner businesses, local organisations and friends for a celebration of its 30th anniversary. The plant has a proud production record, building five million engines. It’s also on track to become a carbon-neutral site by 2025, setting a global eco-example for Toyota manufacturing. The youngest champion

Kalle Rovanperä has made sporting history as the youngest World Rally Champion, taking the title the day after his 22nd birthday. The Toyota Gazoo Racing star claimed the honour with victory in the New Zealand Rally in the GR Yaris Hybrid 1. Read more here.

Wheelchair-friendly Verso

Toyota has officially approved a conversion of its Proace Verso people carrier to accommodate wheelchair users. The adaptation, offered by specialist firm GM Coachworks, includes a low-incline rear ramp for easy access and a seating position that puts the passenger at the same head-height as their companions on board. Big battery budget

Toyota is investing around £4.5 billion in its electric vehicle battery programme, investing the funds to increasing production capacity to meet growing global demand. Read more here.
