Built for business: two-seat conversion for new Hilux

The business-friendly qualities of the all-new Toyota Hilux have been enhanced with the introduction of a new factory conversion option that removes the rear seats in the double cab body to provide extra versatility and load space. Read more here.

Corolla 60th Anniversary edition

Toyota is marking the 60th anniversary of Corolla – the world’s most popular car – with a special edition of the British-built hatchback. Special styling elements, extra equipment features and commemorative badging are all included and numbers are strictly limited. Read more here.

LCV growth plans

Toyota set out its growth plans for the Toyota Professional range of light commercial vehicles at the IAA Transportation this week. The headline targets are to achieve 200,000 annual sales and an eight per cent market share in Europe by 2030, supported by a comprehensive model range with multiple powertrain options. Hydrogen co-operation

IAA Transportation also saw agreements between Toyota, other manufacturers and technical specialists to advance the development and use of hydrogen fuel cell technology in heavy-duty transport and to co-operate in scaling up a hydrogen mobility value chain across Europe. TOYOTA TECHNOLOGY

Woven City wonders

Toyota has opened the doors to Woven City, its “living test course” for future mobility to give a glimpse of some of the early activities taking place in the advanced connected community in Japan. Although still in its early development stages, Woven City is serving as a cradle for exciting innovation in mobility technologies. Read more here and here.

Renewable fuels pilot

Toyota is working with BMW, Bosch and the fuel company Repsol on a pilot programme to demonstrate how existing vehicles can run on a new petrol produced from 100 per cent renewable materials, achieving significant reductions in greenhouse gases compared to fossil fuels.Read more here.

Sauna time – on a hydrogen boat

Jyväskylä, Finland, is the home to Toyota’s World Rally Championship operation and to a new floating sauna that’s housed on a hydrogen-powered boat. After a session in the steam on board, users can dive straight into the lake to cool off. It’s part of a local project to maximise opportunities for using hydrogen as an energy source. Record-equalling championship for TGR-WRT

Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team sealed a sixth consecutive manufacturers’ world championship title, equalling Lancia’s long-standing record. The result was sealed with Oliver Solberg’s victory in the GR Yaris Rally1 at Rally Chile. Read more here.

Gazoo Racing goes karting

Gazoo Racing has multiple world championships to its credit at the highest levels of international motorsport. In Japan it’s also turning its attention to track action for children and families with the launch of the GR Kart. Developed as an entry-level kart, it will provide an accessible gateway to motorsports, inspiring a new generation of competitors. Read more here.

TOYOTA MANUFACTURING

Toyota’s Circular Factory completes its first year

Toyota’s Circular Factory, founded in the UK at the TMUK Burnaston plant, has completed its first year of operation. The facility undertakes the systematic dismantling of end-of-life vehicles to retrieves parts and materials for recycling and re-use. As a pathfinder for Toyota, the UK model has since been adopted for a further circular factory in Poland. Read more here  and here.

Deeside’s six million milestone

Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK’s Deeside powertrain plant in North Wales has passed the production milestone of six million engines since the facility opened for business in 1992. It’s also making great progress towards achieving carbon-neutral production. Read more here.
